Photos from Toronto Show in March

So, back in March, I had a gig at The Central in Toronto. Good times. We were only in town for 20 hours or so…but we managed to do all the things that make Toronto great (to me). Santi (one super ill photographer) came along for the ride, and was nice enough to take some photos.

Here are some of my favorites, and the link to the full set is below.

We stayed at the Delta Chelsea…nice view:

MC Fubb (right):

and DJ Combo:

were the two fine gentlemen who had me come out and play, and who wrote a last minute note to the customs agents at the border.

After playing the gig and getting shwasted, we needed to eat:

Oh, late night street meat is delicious.

Next day, we hit up another Toronto must: All-You-Can-Eat-Korean-Mother-Fuckin’-BBQ. Its funny, I go there every time I’m in town, and I still can’t remember the name of the spot:

And finally, we visited my must-go destination – The New Era Cap Store:

Now, go see the rest of the pics Santi took by clicking HERE!

Photos from Battle in Rochester, New York

So, way back in March, my girl Becca and homies Santi and Vince Nantes (check his music out) all hit the road for a multi-city trip that finished in Rochester, New York, for a battle. Santi took photos there and at the afterset.

If you don’t know, of all the photos I use for my website, CDs, promo, etc., Santi is responsible for 90% of them. Plenty of people take photos that I’m in, but honestly, Santi takes the best ones. Besides the incredible photo itself – content, lighting, movement, expression – is the feeling I get from his photos that really makes them stand out. You should definitely check him out at his website: http://www.thevastdifference.com

Here are some of my favorites (link to the full set after):

The homies – Vince Nantes and Santi (the man behind the photos):

The man with the shots is Brian – he’s the big reason why I even had a show in Rochester:

Now, here’s the rest of the set.

The 2010 Just For Laughs Festival In Montreal

So, I played at the 2010 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada this past weekend. Its the third year that I’ve played at the festival, for the JFL – Battle – JPR, probably one of the bigger Bboy and (now) All Style Competitions on the North American continent.

The flight I had was hella early, because the first show was at like 5PM. But it was all good, because I was put on the same ground transport with the famous Kwikstep from Full Circle. He and I started chatting, and then we ate the most expensive Subway (yeah, Subway) meal I’ve ever had. We chatted it up so much, that by the time we finished I had to soundcheck.

Just like the last two years, on Friday, I played for the Canadian finals on the outdoor Videotron Urban Stage:

(Sorry, this one is blurry, as I took it between bboy rounds). A ton of people always come and watch the top Bboys in Canada compete for one of four slots in the Finals on Saturday, where they can compete against some of the world’s best. Luckily, the rain didn’t come down until after I was done.

After the show and selling a shit ton of my CDs (if I had known how many I was going to sell, I woulda brought 4 times what I did. I thought I had the number right from last year, but man, people got hungry since last year…!) I got a chance to hang out with a booking agent I’m working with in Europe, and he and I checked out the french group he manages who was also performing at the festival. The group name is The Androids:

Basically, they were 7 of the 11 dancers who form the whole troupe, and they did a moving street performance (as the Just For Laughs Festival is not only comedians from all over the world, but street performers, urban dance, and performance art). I chilled with them for a bit, and then went to the mall for dinner:

After which, we saw the shit that is pictured at the top of the post – fireworks, clowns, dance music, rain, umbrellas, light show, video show, confetti, and the french Android homies.

I then got back to the hotel, and had a hard time sleeping – prolly all the coffee I put down.

Day 2, basically started with sound check, and then me eating this:

That shit was not good, but I ran outta time, and I had to get back to the Metropolis for the show….

Sorry for the flicks of empty stages, but I had to take them when I wasn’t playing, which meant nothing was going on. I’ll try and find some footage of battles on the net, and post them up when I can.

After the battle, all the dancers and I headed over to the festival afterparty, to eat this kinda stuff:

Its hard to tell, but its a spread of cheese, grapes, apples, olives, and breads.

And then several hours later, I ate this:

I never drink 7UP, but man, that shit tasted different than I remember.

Anyways, I passed the fuck out, woke up, and flew home.

Lookin’ forward to rockin’ it for next year…keep an eye out…I’mma dig up some battle footage….
